Sunset Bridge

In Materials & Mechanics, I worked with a partner and we designed an intricate, cable-stayed bridge. Our bridge uses three truss components and a hybrid of a harp and fan style cable system. It contains 80 connection points with ten cables spanning across the clear span between the pylons on either side. Our bridge weighed 3.37 kg and held around 34 kg. Thus, the efficiency of our bridge was 10.09 kg. This design emphasizes how architecture and physics can work together to create a visually and physically effective design.
